My son likes pikachu (Pokémon) and thought it was a “simple design”. I have uploaded the image and I have a permanent yellow vinyl. How do I make his cheeks red and his eyes black (and his ears black)? Can I cut and draw on top of the cut shape? The B side will always hold the blades, and the A side holds other accessories, such as Cricut markers and the score pen. I WOULD LOVE for Cricut to find a way for their software to complete those lines of writing so that the text is colored, but that's not an option right now.
I chose the blue rectangle below (which comes with my Cricut Access), although you can easily find a rectangle somewhere else and raise it. I want to point out one important feature when selecting images for “Drawing with your Cricut machine”. In addition, you can take almost any image in Cricut Design Space and convert it to a drawing image by changing it from a Cut to a Write image in the Layer Attributes panel for that image. Leave the print on your Cricut mat and place it back on your Cricut Explore and continue cropping the image.
That said, there's no need to use Cricut pens with the machine (although I do recommend it, as they are specifically designed to work with the machine). Hey, have you ever been writing with the Cricut pen and the ink is put on the roller and then you “roll it back on the paper”. Because of this, in the layered example, the Cricut will draw around those duplicate lines and you'll end up with some heavier lines because the Cricut has drawn them several times. Vikki, Cricut has changed the way it denotes line type recently and I haven't had a chance to update my posts yet.
We just bought a Cricut Explore Air 2 and a Cricut EasyPress 2 and we've been playing with them a little bit. Once you have your image colored the way you prefer, use your image tool to remove the Cricut printable vinyl until you only have the colored pieces left. The Cricut Explore Air, Explore Air 2 and Cricut Maker machines are capable of cutting and writing with the pen at the same time. In order for my Cricut to draw this design exactly as I designed it, the two images must be glued to each other.
When you create designs with Cricut markers, you'll most likely try to put your text or image on something, whether it's a label, invitation or label you already have or a cut-out shape from the Cricut Design Space Library.
